Europe Large Diameter Bar Straightening Installation Bar Straightener Objective Bronx/Taylor-Wilson, West Midlands, UK and North Canton, Ohio, has recently commissioned a large diameter bar straightening installation at ÇEMTAŞ of Bursa in Turkey. Having already using a Bronx Taylor Wilson PBRV6 straightening machine to great effect, this customer immediately returned to Bronx when demand for their product required an expansion in productivity. This large diameter straightening equipment will process black round bar from 15 mm to 75 mm in diameter, at speeds of up to 70 metres per minute. The material to be straightened is 100CR6 with a yield stress of 90 kg/mm2. Solution The latest Bronx/Taylor-Wilson PBRV6 series bar straightener is based on a combination of their proven technology and the latest innovative design and proprietary components. The straightening installation will be controlled by Bronx/Taylor-Wilson’s proprietary “COMPASS” -COMPuter Aided Setting System, which automatically predicts and then drives the machine work rolls into the proper position. This system is self-regulating and requires no operator adjustment or intervention. The straightening machine was be designed and manufactured in the U.K. and is a repeat order from this long standing customer in Turkey. Bronx Taylor Wilson proposed their latest revision of the PBRV6 machine which is approximately 30% larger than its predecessor. Innovations to the design of the machine ensure that the maintenance, setting and operation of the machine are much more “user friendly” for the operating staff. The machine was installed, commissioned and Final Acceptance Tests were successfully completed within two weeks on site.
